She has a PhD degree in Plant Pathology and Diploma from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London, Britain (1988), MSc degree in Plant Pathology (1982, University of Nairobi) and a BSc in Agriculture degree (1977, University of Nairobi)
Prof Agnes Wakesho Mwang’ombe is the former Principal of the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (CAVS), University of Nairobi. She is a Professor of Plant Pathology. She married with one grown-up daughter and her home county is Taita-Taveta, Coast, Kenya.

She served as Dean, Faculty of Agriculture from 13th March 2003 to 18th May 2005.
She is a board member of Vision 2030 Delivery Board (April 2009 to current, VDB), KEFRI Board (December 2012 to current), Consortium Board for Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research (CB-CGIAR, February 2011 to current) which oversees the 15 CGIAR Centers which include ILRI, ICRAF, CIAT, ICRISAT, CIMMYT, Bioversity International, CIP, World Fish, IRRI, Africa Rice to name just a few. Consortium Board for Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research (CB-CGIAR) headquartered in Montpellier, France.
