Visit by the President Kühne Logistics University, Prof. Strothotte

The University of Nairobi through the African Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Operations in Resource Management and Food Supply hosted the President, Kühne Logistics University (KLU), Prof. Thomas Strothotte who was accompanied by the Director Logistics Education, Dr. Kreie and the Regional Education Coordinator, Dr. Shawa of Kühne Foundation. The delegation paid a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi, Prof. Stephen Kiama and addressed faculty members and students from Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Business and Management Science. The Centre is supported by German Academic Exchange Programme (DAAD) and implemented in collaboration with Kühne Foundation, Kühne Logistics University and University of Dar es Salaam. It is jointly hosted by the Department of Agricultural Economics, Faculty of Agriculture and the Department of Business, Faculty of Business and Management Science and will offer courses in Sustainable Management and Operations (SuMO) and Business Research (MBR) courses at Masters and PhD level. In his address, Prof. Strothotte noted that the Centre will impart knowledge, support research and mentor academicians and professionals for sustainable logistics and operations. The courses will be delivered by an interdisciplinary team of Professors from collaborating Universities ensuring programs’ graduate are well prepared for their jobs. He asserted that sustainability is a global challenge that industries are dealing with in the wake of climate change and calls for environmental sustainability, and logistics could support in meeting the sustainability commitments.
